How to Easily Organize Your Office Space
Every time that you walk into your office, you can’t seem to find what you’re looking for. And usually, whatever you want is buried underneath of pile of papers that only seems to get bigger and bigger.
You’ve had enough. You want to get your office space organized. Here are some easy things that you can do to organize your office and mike your life more effective:
1. Start out by cleaning out the space entirely. If there are papers, books, pens, paper clips, and whatever else all over the place, you need to sift through it all. Begin by throwing out what you don’t need. Make sure to be extremely rigid during this process. For example, if you haven’t used something for a long, long time, then throw it out. This is the most important step because the less junk you have lying around, the easier it will be to get your space in order.
2. After you get all of your cleaning done, then you need to access what kind of office furniture you have in your space. If you want to stay organized, you’ll need to have more than just a desk and a chair in your space. If that’s all that you have, then you have no furniture to put anything into and store. So, along with a desk and chair, some good office furniture to purchase would be a filing cabinet, a book case, and maybe even an enclosed cabinet. You should also get some office organizing accessories including some letter trays, pen holders, and small stand alone shelves. Many people start with this step, which is a mistake. Begin with step 1 and clean out your space, then look for furniture and organizing accessories.
3. With your office furniture and accessories in place, then you can get back to putting everything back into your office that you took out when you did your cleaning. At this point, don’t be tempted to keep any of the junk you chose to throw away. This is especially true if you have some extra space to fill. When putting everything away, do it in an orderly fashion and make a mental note of where you place everything. By doing this, then you’ll be able to easily find what you are looking for. If you keep checks in your filing cabinet under note pads, remember that’s where you put them.
4. Now the last step in organizing your office is to keep it clean after all the organizing you did. For example, when you come into your office with something, don’t just throw it on your desk. Instead, look at it, see if you need to keep it, and if so, place it in the appropriate section. It’s that easy.
When it comes down to it, having a clean office space is imperative to getting a lot of work done. Follow these tips to get your space in order today. It is easier than you think.
